Ten Storeys High
Good Things http://www.myspace.com/tenstoreyshigh http://www.tenstoreyshigh.com/index.html In their own words Ten Storeys High are 'an Edinburgh based semi-acoustic outfit. We write own tunes and we wash our own clothes.' The band will be supporting the Proclaimers at their gigs in Stranraer, Isle of Arran, Selkirk and Airdrie on June 15th, 16th, 18th and 19th respectively. Having spoken to lead singer Callum Maguire, I can also reveal the band are looking into doing some gigs in the North East also. When the single popped onto my desk the first thing I noticed was the rather nice artwork created by Colin Usher. I've seen a lot worse done by artists with massive budgets. Thankfully the pleasant nature of the CD's content mirrors that of the artwork. Their debut single contains two tracks: 'Good Things' and 'Sleepwalking'. Both are fine acoustic efforts, which differ from the slightly faster track 'Kiss my Feet' which can be heard at the bands myspace page. My Personal favourite is actually the b-side sleepwalking, which has slightly more casual feel compared with 'Good Things'. In this their first single, the signs are there that Ten Storeys High have potential. The subtle tones of lead singer Callum Maguire provide the perfect compliment to the tranquil acoustic nature of the band. With only a handful of songs to judge by, it's difficult to tell just exactly what to expect from Ten Storeys High - however the initial signs are all good. Indeed, if you have a chance to see the band this summer it would be well worth investigating. If you would like to find out more about the band, check out their myspace page where you can listen to four of their tracks. You can also have a look at the bands homepage, where you can view a video of their new single.
