Project-6
Lost in the Country Initially Project-6 started off as just that, a project. Formed earlier this year as a three piece, the group includes Mike Duncan and Bill Stephen who are no strangers to the Aberdeen music scene having previously played in The Flow. Since their conception Project-6 have blossomed and recorded a six track EP. They are also edging their way towards full gig readiness with every rehearsal and it shouldn't be long before they are playing some of the more established venues in the North East. Project-6 sound like an Aberdonian hybrid of Oasis, The La's and Ride. Mikes vocals are overtly similar to that of Noel Gallagher's (with a Scottish twang and perhaps at times a tiny bit of Shaun Ryder thrown in). These influences are by no means a bad thing as increasingly the likes of Oasis are being overlooked for inspiration for 'trendier' bands like Gang of Four. Whilst Project-6 wear their influences on their sleeves, it would be unfair to suggest all of their music takes this slant. Drivel Absolute is as refreshing in sound as it is in name, whilst stand out track Paralysed looks certain to be a crowd pleaser, when the band finally get out gigging. f you have no love of the Manchester/Liverpool scene of the late 80's early 90's, you will take very little pleasure from listening Project-6. Nevertheless, if you want more from your band than fancy fringes, black nail varnish and a grudge against those pesky parents who won't let him stay out late, then Project-6 could be the best local band you hear in 2007. *Since recording 'Lost in the Country' Project-6 look set to add to the original three members. Keep tabs on their myspace to see how it all pans out. Written By Hammond |
